For Stevens Point locals in the US, the city is flooded with delicious fried fish. Here are four top options for the community to have a try.
Hilltop Pub&Grill
Hilltop Pub&Grill first opened in the 1980s and took the Stevens Point community by storm with its delicious food and unique decoration style. Its fried fish are beloved due to the use of “high-quality North Atlantic cod, with a light beer batter (面糊)”.
The Final Score Bar&Grill
The Final Score Bar&Grill aimed to become a local hot spot in 2001 when Jim Billings, the owner, took charge of the business. Billings feels that their five batter flavors set them apart from their neighboring bars. Besides, various wines are available.
Point After Pub&Grill
Point After Pub&Grill started serving delicious food and cold beers in a welcoming environment in 2009. But its history runs much longer. “Before it was Point After Pub&Grill, it had been Northside Bar for 30 plus years,” explained Molski, the owner. Molski feels that the pub’s four special batters to choose from and other fish specials are what help make it an area landmark.
Two Harps Pub
This Irish pub opened its doors to the public in 2017 and has been drawing fans and locals ever since. “I had done my career for a long time and was kind of bored with it,” said Nick Moore, the owner. “And this opportunity fell into my lap, so I went with it. It really made sense to open up an Irish bar.” The growing pub advises guests to try a cold beer with their Friday fried fish.

I have a special place in my heart for libraries. I have for as long as I can remember. I was always an enthusiastic reader, sometimes reading up to three books a day as a child. Stories were like air to me and while other kids played ball or went to parties, I lived out adventures through the books I checked out from the library.
My first job was working at the Ukiah Library when I was 16 years old .It was a dream job and I did
everything from shelving books to reading to the children for story time.
As I grew older and became a mother, the library took on a new place and an added meaning in my life. I had several children and books were our main source(来源) of entertainment. It was a big deal for us to load up and go to the local library, where my kids could pick out books to read or books they wanted me to read to them.
I always read ,using different voices, as though I were acting out the stories with my voice and they loved
it !It was a special time to bond with my children and it filled them with the wonderment of books.
Now, I see my children taking their children to the library and I love that the excitement of going to
the library lives on form generation to generation.
As a novelist, I’ve found a new relationship with libraries. I encourage readers to go to their local library when they can’t afford to purchase a book. I see libraries as a safe haven(避风港) for readers and writers, a bridge that helps put together a reader with a book. Libraries, in their own way, help fight book piracy(盗版行为) and I think all writers should support libraries in a significant way when they can. Encourage readers to use the library. Share library announcements on your social media. Frequent them and talk about them when you can.
24. Which word best describes the author’s relationship with books as a child?
A. Cooperative. B. Uneasy. C. Inseparable. D. Casual.
25. What does the underlined phrase “an added meaning” in paragraph 3 refer to?
A. Pleasure from working in the library. B. Joy of reading passed on in the family.
C. Wonderment from acting out the stories. D. A closer bond developed with the readers.
26. What does the author call on other writers to do?

A. Sponsor book fairs. B. Write for social media.
C. Support libraries. D. Purchase her novels.
27. Which can be a suitable title for the text?
A. Reading: A Source of Knowledge B. My Idea about writing
C. Library: A Haven for the Young D. My Love of the Library
C
Cities usually have a good reason for being where they are, like a nearby port or river. People settle in these places because they are easy to get to and naturally suited to communications and trade. New York City, for example, is near a large harbour at the mouth of the Hudson River. Over 300 years its population grew gradually from 800 people to 8 million. But not all cities develop slowly over a long period of time. Boom towns grow from nothing almost overnight. In 1896, Dawson, Canada, was unmapped wilderness (荒野). But gold was discovered there in 1897, and two years later, it was one of the largest cities in the West, with a population of 30,000.
Dawson did not have any of the natural conveniences of cities like London or Paris. People went there for gold. They travelled over snow-covered mountains and sailed hundreds of miles up icy rivers. The path to Dawson was covered with thirty feet of wet snow that could fall without warming. An avalanche (雪崩) once closed the path, killing 63 people. For many who made it to Dawson, however, the rewards were worth the difficult trip. Of the first 20,000 people who dug for gold, 4,000 got rich. About 100 of these stayed rich men for the rest of their lives.
But no matter how rich they were, Dawson was never comfortable. Necessities like food and wood were very expensive. But soon, the gold that Dawson depended on had all been found. The city was crowded with disappointed people with no interest in settling down, and when they heard there were new gold discoveries in Alaska, they left Dawson City as quickly as they had come. Today, people still come and go—to see where the Canadian gold rush happened. Tourism is now the chief industry of Dawson City—its present population is 762.
28. What attracted the early settlers to New York City?
A. Its business culture. B. Its small population.
C. Its geographical position. D. Its favourable climate.
29. What do we know about those who first dug for gold in Dawson?
A. Two-thirds of them stayed there.
B. One out of five people got rich.
C. Almost everyone gave up.
D. Half of them died.
30. What was the main reason for many people to leave Dawson?
A. They found the city too crowded.
B. They wanted to try their luck elsewhere.
C. They were unable to stand the winter.
D. They were short of food.
31. What is the text mainly about?
A. The rise and fall of a city. B. The gold rush in Canada.
C. Journeys into the wilderness. D. Tourism in Dawson.

Feeling tired lately? Has a doctor said he can’t find anything wrong with you? Perhaps he sent you
to a hospital, but all the advanced equipment there shows that there is nothing wrong with you.
Then, consider this :you might be in a state of subhealth (亚健康).
Subhealth, also called the third state or gray state, is explained as a borderline state between health
and disease.
According to the investigation (调查研究) by the National Health Organization, over 45 percent of
subhealthy people are middleaged or elderly. The percentage is even higher among people who work in
management positions as well as students around exam time.
Symptoms (征兆) include a lack of energy, depression (压抑), slow reactions, insomnia (失眠), agitation
(焦虑), and poor memory. Other symptoms include shortness of breath, sweating and aching in the waist
and legs.

The key to preventing and recovering from subhealth, according to some medical experts, is to form
good living habits, alternate work and rest, exercise regularly, and take part in open-air activities.
As for meals, people are advised to eat less salt and sugar. They should eat more fresh vegetables, fruit
and fish because they are rich in nutritional (营养的) elements—vitamins and trace elements (微量元
素)—that are important to the body.
Nutrition experts point out that it is not good to eat too much at one meal because it may cause
unhealthy changes in the digestive tract (消化道). They also say that a balanced diet is very helpful in
avoiding subhealth.
32. According to this passage, which of the following is right?
A. When you are in a state of subhealth, you should stay home and keep silent.
B. When you are in a state of subhealth, you should go to see a doctor and buy some medicine.
C. When you are in a state of subhealth, you should have yourself examined in foreign countries.
D. When you are in a state of subhealth, you should find out the reasons and relax yourself.
33. Middle-aged people may be easy to feel subhealthy because________.
A. they have used to their energy
B. they have lost their living hopes
C. they have more pressure in life and work
D. they begin to get older
34. As for food, experts suggested that________.
A. we should never eat meat
B. we should have meals with less salt and sugar
C. we should eat less than usual
D. we should have meals without salt or sugar
35. Where is the text most likely from?
A. A medical magazine. B. A guidebook. C. A science report . D. A diary.
